Born Mina Rose Denise Sher in South Africa, Rose has been an artist since her chubby little fingers could hold a crayon. Rose began her career studying Fine Art at UCT, where she was not a fit with the 70s art scene there. She went on to careers as Art Librarian, ESL teacher, Counsellor and Art Therapist, always maintaining an active artmaking practice with a diverse range of teachers. She has since studied with numerous artists of various disciplines; figurative and abstract, Oriental and Western, figure drawing and mixed media.
These days Rose works with mixed media, paint and eco-printing. Informed by Art Therapy, her work is expressive of inner states of being, using abstract and figurative forms as they emerge. You are cordially invited to use them to enter your own narratives and enquiries.

Over the past 20 years, Rose has been combining art with traditional therapy to treat clients in Vancouver and Gibsons, BC. She finds dynamic body-mind approaches like EDMR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) help empower people effectively and quickly to find their unique strengths and abilities to recover from difficult experiences.
She has over 20 years of experience as a trauma counsellor, group leader and teacher for private and non-profit agencies. Current offerings include private sessions for adults on the Sunshine Coast and supervision for art therapists.
Rose is an experienced teacher and leads inspiring, creative, fun workshops to express your “Inner I” through art.
